Behavior:
Our customers have reported that Outlook crashes as soon as our XPhone AddIn is active.
Specifically, this means that Outlook closes again after a few seconds when it is opened for the first time after the computer is started.
If Outlook is then started again, the problem no longer occurs as long as the computer is not restarted.
This can be seen in the Windows event log as an "Application Error":
The crash only occurs when Sophos Intercept X Endpoint Protection is running. Sophos explains this with a faulty HitmanPro.Alert injection of the Intercept X Endpoint Protection.
The problem is currently being investigated by Sophos and C4B is supporting Sophos in finding a solution.
Workaround:
C4B can currently offer the following workaround to be able to use both in parallel operation:
In the settings of the Sophos web interface, there is the "Mitigate exploits in applications with security vulnerabilities" over-item.
The sub-item "Protect Office applications" must be deactivated here.
By deactivating this protection module, Outlook no longer crashes when our XPhone AddIn is active.

We have also occasionally received reports from customers who use the endpoint security solution from the company "Trellix"; according to the affected customers, the behavior for remediation is analogous to the Sophos procedure.
